The initiator

My name is Joseph D. Dian and I'm the one behind the Techsted Memetracker Project. I'm 22 yr old.

I don't have any formal qualifications in programming but what I believe in is that : You don't need a degree in computer science to write codes. Think positive : Yes you can ! All you need is ...........love, HOPE, pizzas and a PC.

You already got the intelligence : the passion comes with time and practice.

Origin of Techsted

Techsted is an accidental venture in the world of memetrackers. In an attempt to understand how memetrackers work and why there are biases, I started a simple curious experiment which later became a public website.

Solving problems

Using memetrackers as news source is a time-saving experience only if you can find what correspond to your centre of interests and spot easily some particular stories.
Techsted, for examle, focusses on 3 classifications :

1. Inverted Index : this includes stories which may not be be popular among publishers but can be of interest to readers)
2. Dealings : all recent dealings, acquisitions, VC fund raisings and other investments.
3. Launch : covers new websites, products, services, software releases that received blog coverage.

How different is Techsted from other memetrackers ?

1. Techsted has tags : this makes story spotting easier.
2. Inverted Index and Unique stories : mainstream is not enough.

3. Techsted got Rss feed from Day Oneeeeeee......( borrowed this line from Hillary. didn't mean to plagiarise. Cheers Sweetheart ! )
4. The power of recommendation.

5. Ability to browse through many stories which surfaced in the last hour.
6. Special week-end algorithm. During week end, news breaking tends to be slow and techsted takes care of this so that you won't come across a naked page where you have to fill in the blanks.

7. Bloggers can submit their website directly through the Techsted ( not by email ) and Techsted will crawl it.
8. Techsted caters for its readers.  Techsted's readership consists mainly of web developers, entrepreneurs, web designers and tech junkie like me. keep an open eye : new features coming for you soon.

9.  We don't intend to stay the same for 2 years or more until you get bored and everyone start slashing at your memetracker on Twitter. Techsted will continuously improve and bring in more features with your feedback.

Ambition

Techsted has been made public to allow web users to have an alternative choice to existing services and to fill in some gaps which till now have not retain the attention of other websites.
Now that Techsted has entered the memetracker arena, its ambition is to continue to tweak and fine-tune the algorithm that will provide a new, easy and exciting browsing experience.
